| TCDG Public Forum Debate Institute |
The Championship Debate Group recognizes that innovation in argumentation is an important part of our mission. This summer TCDG offers a Public Forum Debate Institute for six days that will challenge students to explore the newest form of interscholastic debate. This event has been adopted by the National Forensic League and the Texas Forensic Association as qualifying events. Nearly everything in PFD is different from traditional policy and LD debate. Case writing, rebuttal strategies and tactics, cross examination techniques, and even research approaches to PFD are quite different. Teaching students to debate to a broad based pubic audience is an important communication skill that TCDG wants to encourage. Students will study a broad range of topic areas in preparation for the 2009-2010 tournament season. Every student will participate in fully critiqued practice debates and practicums on cross examination including the grand cross fire. Students will be working daily to refine their public speaking skills. Students will be allowed to choose PFD as a major or as a minor class.
