Student congress has grown into one of the most popular tournaments events in the state and the nation. Our student congress institute will primarily focus on the analysis of legislation, writing legislation, argument construction, speech writing, and the delivery of the speech in a student congress format. Of course, since student congress is a competitive event students will also be instructed in the fine points of strategy involved in student congress as well. Student congress is only offered as a “minor field’ of study this year so students can elect student congress each evening. The last evening a full student congress will be held and students will have many chances to practice their speechmaking abilities in this formal setting.
