Mr. Russell Kirkscey
Blanco High School, Blanco, Texas
Russell Kirkscey is one of the most distinguished and respected debate coaches in the state of Texas. He has coached four UIL state championship policy teams and three UIL state champion Lincoln-Douglas debaters. His students have earned a total of 20 medals at UIL state in debate.
He is
the 2003 winner of the UIL Sponsor Excellence Award, and in 2006 he was
honored with the National Federation of High Schools Outstanding
Speech/Theater/Debate Educator Award. He has served as the UIL State
Assistant Contest Director in LD debate, and he now serves as the 4A UIL
State Director in Policy debate. He has lectured on debate at many UIL
Student Activities Conferences and at the UIL summer Capital Conference.
He has taught at a number of summer institutes, and we are happy to
welcome him to his second year at The Championship Debate Group as our director and lead
policy teacher.

Craig Hertel
Lindsay High School, Lindsay, Texas
Craig has established an amazing program in Lindsay, Texas. He has coached three UIL State Policy debate champions and two state finalists. His teams have amassed 10 State UIL sweepstakes championships. Craig is an experienced career teacher and is well known for patience and perseverance with high school students. We are happy to welcome Craig to his first Championship Debate Group summer institute. |

Zane Schwarzlose
Texas A & M University
Zane Schwarzlose is a UIL CX debate state champion and state finalist. He has co-written two national cx topic study papers that made the national ballot. He is the assistant CX debate coach at Smithville High School. Zane is widely recognized as one of the best judges on the UIL circuit. He will finish his master's degree in agricultural economics at Texas A&M University in 2009. We welcome Zane to his first year at TCDG. |

Bryan Weber
Bryan Weber is a two-time UIL CX debate state finalist and the co-author of a finalist study paper for the national CX debate topic committee. He holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University. Bryan is an experienced judge on the UIL circuit and brings a tremendous background to teaching about alternative energy, oil, and global warming. We welcome Bryan to his first year at TCDG. |
